THE STORY OF LUSSO BAGS
I'm obsessed with organizing, giving back to end human trafficking, travel, and cute bags. These passions merged when I founded Lusso Bags.
In November 2010, I launched Lusso Bags, a company that not only specializes in really cool bags, but also give back to a cause that I am super passionate about: ending human trafficking. I wanted to make others aware of women who are suffering, and do something that would have a real impact on enabling them to experience lasting change in their lives.
From the beginning, I had a few guiding principles. I wanted to be able to make products that empower women to either avoid or leave the sex trade by having an alternative form of employment. This is why I chose to work with Freeset in India where the Mrs. Bird bag, cosmetic bags and tote bags are made under Fair Trade regulations. I also use women artists and designers here in the USA to help create the men’s and baby Lusso Bags designs.
Lusso Bags began with an order for shoe bags and has grown to include cosmetic bags, tote bags, and someday leather bags. As excited as I am about helping people organize their lives and travels with high-quality bags, I am even more excited about leveraging that popularity to raise awareness to fight human trafficking.
THE LUSSO BAG QUALITY PRODUCT PROMISE
Lusso means "luxury” in Italian and reflects our commitment to using high-quality materials and practices. Lusso Bag's featured product is the lined, eco-friendly, 100% organic Mrs. Bird bag by women in Kolkata who have left the sex trade to receive Fair Trade wages working as seamstresses.
Local LA artisans create the rest of Lusso Bag's products. So our products are either Fair Trade or Made in the USA. Whether it is a sachet or a cosmetic bag, we only make and sell items we ourselves would want to buy. All of our bags are crafted with diligent care and rigorous quality control; we thoroughly test each product's seam construction, fabric durability and color sustainability. Like the Mrs. Bird bag, cosmetic bags and tote bags, the mens shoe bag, laundry bag, and Lil's Ones bags are also lined and made from quality, durable fabrics designed to last. We sell in low quantities and our patterns change, so once an item is gone, that may be the last time it is available. Don't wait to order!
